Hermès FW26: elegance in the twilight
In an industry increasingly driven by spectacle and fast-moving trends, Hermès chose a different direction for its fall/winter 2026 collection. The French maison presented a more atmospheric and introspective vision, where its signature elegance was infused with a darker, more mysterious mood.
Under the creative direction of Nadège Vanhée, who has led the brand’s womenswear since 2014, the collection drew inspiration from the moment of dusk, that fleeting time between day and night when light fades and colors begin to shift. The runway reinforced this concept with a winding path surrounded by moss and greenery, illuminated in deep blue tones that recreated a twilight sky inside the show space.

The color palette reflected this crepuscular atmosphere. Deep blacks, midnight blues and rich burgundy dominated the collection, punctuated by touches of mustard and beige reminiscent of the final glow of daylight. Rather than following seasonal trends, the colors felt carefully selected, echoing the same precision Hermès applies to its craftsmanship and leatherwork.
Silhouettes remained structured and sharply defined. Tailored jackets, fitted leather coats, clean-lined skirts and quilted outerwear created a sense of protection and functionality. Many pieces suggested the spirit of evening exploration, with utilitarian jackets, technical jumpsuits and protective coats featuring fur collars, hoods and padded elements.
Hermès’ equestrian heritage also surfaced throughout the collection. Thigh-high riding boots and modern interpretations of jodhpurs referenced the house’s origins in equestrian craftsmanship while translating those codes into a contemporary wardrobe.
Subtle nods to the 1960s appeared through A-line shapes and youthful combinations of leather mini skirts, shirts, ties and knitwear. Short zip-front dresses were layered over turtlenecks or sharp-collared tops, paired with colored tights in deep green, corn yellow and burgundy.
Handbags, among Hermès’ most iconic creations, played a key role in the narrative of the show. Classic styles were integrated seamlessly into the looks, while occasional brighter or unexpected tones added contrast to a collection largely defined by its darker palette.

With this collection, Hermès once again reaffirmed its distinctive position within modern luxury: a vision of fashion built on precision, craftsmanship and restraint. Rather than competing with the industry’s visual noise, the maison demonstrated that true impact can come from subtlety.
