MOSCHINO FW26: ARGENTINE MAKES AN APPEARANCE IN MILAN FASHION WEEK
It’s 1994. The Argentine Adrián Appiolaza buys a one-way ticket to London in search of experiencing British rock firsthand. He starts out handing out flyers at clubs, works his way up to becoming a go-go dancer… Among dancers, musicians, and security guards, he hears about Central Saint Martins. Time passes, and that once-initiated young man now carries the title of creative director of Moschino.
The irreverence of this apotheotic story, this endless series of events seemingly disconnected from his personal life, appears to converge in “Terra,” the eighth collection Adrián creates for the Italian house. How can a little rocker kid from San Telmo be carrying forward the legacy of Franco Moschino? How can a bag of dulce de leche churros become a handbag?
Appiolaza does not lose the Moschino sense of humor in the Fall/Winter show — a runway presentation that pays tribute to his native country, Argentina, from the most obvious symbols to the most local details. He distills the quintessence of being Argentine: never being able to stop talking about one’s homeland.
