Celine Makes a Striking Entry into the World of Beauty

In a significant milestone for the iconic fashion house’s 80-year legacy, Celine has announced its official venture into the realm of makeup.

The debut of Celine Beauté was previewed in a captivating short film titled ‘La Collection de l’Arc de Triomphe,’ conceived by artistic and image director Hedi Slimane. This cinematic piece showcased scenes of Parisian landmarks, from La Salle Pleyel to Le Musée Bourdelle, with models adorned in Sixties-inspired fashion. Amidst the new collection of baker boy caps and mini suits, glimpses of bold red lipstick, a perfume, and brushes hinted at a forthcoming makeup line. These subtle beauty accents have now been confirmed as the inaugural Celine makeup collection.

Following the success of Celine’s Haute Parfumerie collection reintroduction in 2019, this latest move marks the brand’s maiden voyage into makeup, beginning with the launch of a single shade of lipstick, ‘Rouge Triomphe,’ scheduled for release this Autumn. Additionally, in January 2025, the ‘Le Rouge Celine’ lipstick series will debut, offering 15 satin-finish hues, including a timeless nude (‘la peau nue’) showcased in the short film. Imprinted with the maison’s couture monogram and infused with Slimane’s distinctive design essence, these lipsticks are envisioned as wearable art combined with high-performance formulations.

Aesthetically, the lipstick is housed in a gold metal jewel case inspired by haute couture fabrics and art deco motifs. The formula boasts a smooth satin-like texture enriched with Slimane’s signature olfactory style, featuring a delicate blend of rose and rice powder. Beyond lipsticks, Celine’s makeup line will introduce new categories each season, including lip balms, mascaras, eyeliners, pencils, and nail polish.

Celine joins a growing trend of fashion houses venturing into the beauty domain. This year alone, Paco Rabanne and Burberry have made strides in beauty, while Prada Beauty introduced AI-driven foundations, eye quads, and couture lipsticks last year.

The move into makeup represents both commercial and creative opportunities for fashion giants seeking to infuse style and innovation into our beauty routines. For the first time in its illustrious history, Celine embarks on a beauty journey, promising to redefine elegance and sophistication in makeup.
