DSQUARED2 FW26: A HEATED DREAM OF SPORTSWEAR

Our train of thoughts about traditions in Canada is limited due to the chokehold that the USA has in our mind about what it means to be a North American. That is why, since the beginning of their career, more than 30 years ago, the creative duo behind DSQUARED2 has been pursuing a singular mission: putting the name of their country out there (in the fashion world) and creating contemporary folklore of what is to be Canadian with the sexiest collections we have ever seen in catwalks.

The latest addition to this narrative, it has been the success of Heated Rivalry. A production that was not expected to reach such a wide audience, a story that let the heteropatriarchy take a look on what a gay relationship looks like and how the enemy to lover cliche is more the real in the community. We were all wondering, before the menswear season started, if Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie were going to be in the center of the cultural conversation, being in every front row. Taking into consideration that, for example, in Spain we have to wait until February to get our hands on the episodes that have captivated a massive audience. That’s why it is the perfect match (get it?) to get Hudson Williams to open the DSQUARED2 show in the least inspiring outfit ever, because we want to see this happen and not be overshadowed by the pieces of clothes.

In other news, we can positively affirm that the ice skating boot heels from FW11 that made an appearance a few shows ago have siblings. This time by making a heel out of a ski boots, playing with the hockey aesthetic that inundated social media because of the show previously named. Firstly inspired by the brand’s founders Dean and Dan Caten’s childhood love of figure skating in their home of Canada, now inspired by the show that has social media in chokehold due to the overstimulating queer scenes that inundated the TV show (produced by a Canadian production company).

Across 44 looks, we can see the interpolation of the playfulness of being cold outside (and how to overcome it) and the homoerotic heated skin inside of each piece. Where puffers are placed to cover skin, where the termic sensation is a state of mind. Models have the right to express who they are by being in peace with their body and showing it off. There is the need to say that the Winter Olympics are starting in less that two weeks in Milan and this is the first idea of the collection (before the whole Heated Rivalry success happened), to reinterpret sportswear and safety gear into wearable and outstanding pieces that create a pop culture moment, staying relevant in our minds for a long time. Provoking is the sign of our time and the duo knows it, letting Orgasm by La Zowi being one of the first teasers of the show is not a coincidence. Her attitude is what the creative team wants to embody while designing this sculptural and relevant to culture clothing.

EDGED2 serves as the Fall-Winter 2026 Co-Ed Fashion Show of DSQUARED, but also as the collection where the creative duo embodies their sexuality (that is part of the brand) and takes part in the current media discourse by casting the actor of the moment. The title explains it all, there is the need for the brand to shake the public discourse by creating a heated dream of sportswear, a compilation of hot and queer bodies that rely on outerwear to protect themselves from the turbulent times in which we live.
