Get to know the participants of the 25th Edition of the Mercedes- Benz Fashion Talent Prize

The announcement of the emerging fashion designers nominated to win the 25th Edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Prize has already been made and we are going to comment on it. On February 23, 2025, the new generation of Spanish designers will present their collections in a calendar full of talent, innovation and creativity that will be exposed to an international audience. Each season, 9 brands are selected to show the potential of Spain and how we have things to say to the world in a different way. The winner would get the chance to show the collection in Mexico, which would help internationalize the brand, get to know other markets and explore new catwalks. There is an intrinsic insecurity in what they do and realizing that they are capable of winning the prize makes them feel valuable over an industry that does not have time to recognize talent over money. In the following paragraphs, you will learn more about the participants of this year’s edition, which are in alphabetical order: Aleixandri Studio, Alineo Studio, Antonio Del Canto, Bonet, David Moss, Odis, Pat Equilux, Rtama and Studio Cumbre.

Aleixandri Studio

After working with Palomo Spain as a pattern maker for a while, Marc Aleixandri Pla is ready to return to his roots and explore new creative possibilities, launching his own project. Graduated from BAU in 2018, he has the desire to explore genderless fashion from an aesthetic, technical and theoretical perspective. VIOLETAS is an homage to transvestism during the Franco era. The collection makes visible the struggles of those who challenged the impositions of that time, in a context where repression and persecution of diversity were the norm. Evoking the elegance of clandestine clubs, while referencing the police uniforms of the 70s, these pieces serve as a symbol of courage and freedom. It is not only an aesthetic expression, but a recognition of the dignity of those who, despite the persecution, were faithful to their identity.

Alineo Studio

The winner of the last Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion Award, Lis Dominguez Garcia, has stepped it up for this new season. Based in Mallorca, her creations evoke mermaids and their magical world with garments that flow next to the body, as if they were part of nature itself. MERMAID MADRID explores the change we undergo when we enter different waters, far from the comfort of our usual routine. A rediscovery process where like a fish out of water, it has to strive to adapt. There are two parts for this collection: high tide and low tide. The first one is an ode to work clothing with unstructured lingerie codes, while the second one embraces the freedom of the depths with transparencies and soft silhouettes.

Antonio del Canto

For romantic and dark aesthetics Antonio del Canto Venegas created his eponymous brand. After graduating from UDIT in 2023, he has been doing internships in Madrid and Paris completing his skill set and discovering his vision. He wants to create a more artistic and artisanal approach to fashion, where a mixture of fabrics with influences from the past become new shapes and silhouettes of today. KISS ME AT THE GATE is a tragic love story, a representation of Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, it talks about unrequited love, marriage of convenience, indiscretion, desire, fear and revenge. There is an interpolation of references: theater, ballet, novels and cinema that version the book in question, where the Russian high society of 1877 is represented slightly differently. We can define the collection as volumes, bows, skirts and silhouettes. Creating garments that act as visual expression and shapes that redefine human anatomy, opening paths to innovative artistic creativity.

Bonet

It is a brand that was born in 2021 as a final project for his degree, but was formalized in mid-2022. Ismael Aguilar Bonet translated what he had done over the years in EASD Valencia and improved it. Taking inspiration from Ibiza, his family, femininity, music and audiovisuals; he creates emotive stories where we can feel the desires and dreams of the wearer/protagonist. WHAT DO YOU DANCE TO? is a conversation between the industry that has empowered his work, the music industry, and his technical approach to fashion. Pieces that mould to the body, plunging necklines, very short trousers and culottes, micro bras, the use of rhinestones, crystals and embroidered sequins and a sober and minimalist colour palette can be the perfect description for what we can expect out of it.

David Moss

After JUST A DREAM, his runway debut in 2022, David Perez Martinez is back with more conceptual and innovative work. Founded in 2020, his brand offers custom tailoring, exclusive collections and design for shows and television. It combines art, avant-garde and spectacle; moving away from trends and prioritizing craftsmanship and individual identity. With METAMORPHOSIS he wants to symbolize internal transformation, each garment reflects intense emotions and layers of accumulated experiences. Wearable sculptures that narrate an emotional journey, where self-discovery and acceptance is the goal. A celebration of resilience and growth, inviting the wearer to embrace their own transformation and wear a story of strength and renewal.

Odis

Ido Segev is a creative that started in the fashion world as a streetwear store owner and by designing his first caps collection discovered his passion for the process of creation, forming sketches to final product, and fell in love with it. With this brand he wants to celebrate individuality, mastering self-expression and the connection between art and fashion. LAYERS is the first runway show of the brand since its creation and talks about the complexity of mental struggles that many people face today. The gothic style of the brand can be seen through a concise palette of colors and materials. Each outfit carries deep symbolism, interweaving stories of struggle and resilience. Every detail tells the story of living with the shadows and, in some cases, overcoming them. It is a reflection of the depth of emotions and the desire for protection. The beauty of it all lies in embracing the struggle, finding strength in the darkness and achieving inner peace through acceptance.

Pat Equilux

From Elda (Alicante), Patricia Fernandez Iñesta is using fashion as a medium of expression through intimate emotions and experiences. His shoemaking family was the reason she started in the fashion industry, and she has the desire to make empathy as the central point in her designs, including everyone and connecting with them filling small gaps that life creates. The brand has a sustainable approach, using materials obtained from factory waste, recycled and then manipulated by hand. The second collection of the brand, MIRRORS, reflects emotions, learnings, lessons and moments that those people have left in her. Straight and deconstructed patterns that reinterpret the typical garments in our wardrobes, playing in an innovative way with textures. It breaks with traditional cuts and designs of menswear, often marked by rigid codes that sought to impose ideas of power and uniformity. We have explored the confluence between femininity and masculinity, betting on harmonious cohesion rather than dissent. Frayed and unfinished seams evoke the unexpectedness of life and the continuity of everyday life. The selection of tones create a visual narrative that defines the essence of this collection: lights and shadows that live within us, security, warmth, happiness and positivity

Rtama

If you are looking for artisanal knitwear that combines traditional techniques with a design full of purpose, Marta Mangano, a 2022 graduate from LCI Barcelona, has the perfect pieces for you. Clothing with souls that tell stories and invite authentic self-expression. She understands fashion as a form of communication, apart from an aesthetic tool. Textile art, body, anatomy, identity and sustainability are the principals of the brand. SIT UP! is a collection that uses the power of fashion as a means to tell stories of resilience and community. Inspired by her personal experiences in Mexico City, it explores the connections between sport, urban identity and overcoming in contexts of social inequality. Sport transcends physical activity: it is empowerment, refuge and an opportunity to build community resilience in the face of daily challenges. She was inspired by the authentic and spontaneous style of these spaces, where stylistic chaos reflects personal stories and there is a lack of rigid rules. Vitality, strength and hope are the core values of a collection that is trying to represent the dynamic and resilient urban life.

Studio Cumbre

Created in 2018 by Micaela Clubourg, this fashion brand fuses craftsmanship with contemporary design to create timeless, ethically crafted pieces. His knowledge on sustainable fashion and technology has led to international projects focused on circularity and the new design regulations of the European Union. Its main focus is to guide the industry towards a more sustainable ecosystem, optimizing resources and promoting positive social change. EDITION 07 – THE ANCIENT DARK is a story about duality: the serenity of the timeless and the uncertainty of ancestral darkness. In times of social, environmental and existential tensions, we seek refuge in garments that tell stories and reconnect us with our roots. Each piece pays homage to tradition, revitalizing artisanal techniques and pure forms that evoke authenticity and permanence. It offers calm and protection, becoming a tangible refuge through natural fibers and neutral tones.
