Louis Vuitton Celebrates a Decade of Creativity with Pre-Fall 2024 Collection Unveiling in Shanghai

Nicolas Ghesquière, the visionary creative director of Louis Vuitton, has embarked on a remarkable journey, marking a decade of innovation and style at the helm of the iconic fashion house. On April 18th, 2024, against the backdrop of Shanghai’s dynamic skyline, Ghesquière unveiled the eagerly anticipated Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2024 collection in a mesmerizing runway show titled «Voyager.»

The stage for this extraordinary event was set at the Long Museum, a testament to China’s rich cultural landscape and artistic heritage. Owned by avid art collectors Mr. Liu Yiqian and Ms. Wang Wei, the museum boasts the largest private art collection in China, spanning traditional, modern, and contemporary works from around the globe.

Against the museum’s pristine white walls and sleek architecture, the runway came alive with a burst of color and history, as Ghesquière delved into Louis Vuitton’s archives, resurrecting timeless emblems while paying homage to the vibrant creativity of China. Collaborating with Beijing-based contemporary artist Sun Yitian, the collection showcased an array of whimsical designs, including inflated animal profiles adorning dresses, skirts, and coats, infusing the runway with a playful yet sophisticated charm.

As Ghesquière celebrated his milestone anniversary with the maison, he masterfully captured the essence of Shanghai’s renowned street style, blending refinement with audacity. The collection juxtaposed timeless details with modern silhouettes, marrying Louis Vuitton’s enduring allure with contemporary flair. From grungier styles to utilitarian aesthetics embellished with abstract florals and feminine frills, each piece resonated with Ghesquière’s distinct artistic language, defying conventional trends in favor of timeless elegance.

Central to the narrative were the accessories, which served as a testament to Louis Vuitton’s storied legacy. Iconic styles such as the Petite Malle, the Twist, the OnTheGo, and the Diane were reimagined for the present, while newcomers like the Slim Trunk made a bold statement with their debut. Each accessory told a story of innovation and reinvention, breathing new life into Louis Vuitton’s illustrious heritage.

In weaving together elements of the past, present, and future, Ghesquière’s creative expedition at Louis Vuitton reached new heights, celebrating the maison’s legacy while embracing the boundless possibilities of tomorrow. Through a fusion of cultures, styles, and artistic visions, the Pre-Fall 2024 collection captured the essence of Louis Vuitton’s spirit of travel, transcending borders to leave an indelible mark on the world of fashion.
