Louis Vuitton FW25: A Journey Through Time and Style on the Runway

Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2025 show kicked off with a burst of sound and lights. The revving of an engine and flashing lights led the way to a runway transformed into a train station, designed by the renowned Es Devlin. According to the collection notes, this structure was meant to evoke a transit space, where “fleeting moments are shared among strangers, weaving a tapestry of stories.” However, the travelers who walked the runway appeared to come from an extraordinary place that defied the laws of time, space, and conventional fashion.

As a brand that has historically drawn inspiration from travel, it came as no surprise that this collection centered around this concept. Under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquière, the models walked the runway in the designer’s signature futuristic and 80s-inspired silhouettes that have redefined what we understand as «timeless fashion.» From sheer rain jackets to leather cargo Bermuda shorts, bejeweled velvet dresses, ruffled necklines, and black-and-white buffalo plaid capes, the collection overflowed with creativity and contrasts.

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2025 strikes a delicate balance between radical modernity and classic historicism. Ghesquière has returned to both his personal archive and the house’s codes to create a collection that references both the brand’s legacy and his own aesthetic vision. Louis Vuitton’s history began as a luggage manufacturer, and while images of horse-drawn carriages filled with trunks may come to mind, the house’s philosophy of the art of travel extends beyond land transport. Just like train stations, this collection represents a convergence of different elements—a blend of past and present in an unmistakable way.

The collection begins with a series of modern and technical looks in Ghesquière’s signature style, featuring functional nylon or PVC parkas paired with ultra-feminine garments and volumes that verge on the avant-garde. In a surprising twist, the collection also introduces fur coats and sculptural ruffled dresses, demonstrating the creative director’s ability to merge extremes. Flowing floral-print dresses and velour tracksuits with complex constructions further show the versatility of the offering.

Ghesquière’s work is also reflected in the workwear-inspired pieces, a clear reference to the attire of workers. Here, we see denim sets with distressed finishes, accented by monogrammed saddlebags and work jackets, which contrast with the luxury elements that typically define the maison. In the realm of eveningwear, the sophistication reaches its peak with lace and tulle-adorned dresses, presenting a pure and refined elegance.

As always, accessories play a crucial role in the narrative of the collection. Without straying too far from the concepts of work and sophistication, the bags and accessories are exquisitely reinterpreted. Portable trunks in vibrant colors, carefully rolled blankets, artistic scarves, hatboxes, and updated versions of the iconic Speedy and Keepall bags are the perfect companions for this visual journey. These accessories are not only practical but true works of art, blending vintage with contemporary while maintaining the essence of the maison.

In the end, the train station where the models cross paths seems to reflect Ghesquière’s own vision: a crossroads of destinations, an encounter of stories, emotions, and aspirations. Each step on the runway captures that fleeting moment of meeting, transformed into a captivating collection designed for modern travelers, always well-equipped with the finest and most exclusive accessories.

Louis Vuitton FW25 is, without a doubt, an ode to travel, transformation, and the reinvention of what it means to be in transit. It’s a collection that honors the past while looking to the future, offering pieces that will transcend time.
