MAD COOL FESTIVAL OR WHAT ARTISTS SHOULD BE ON YOUR RADAR IN 2026
Mad Cool Festival has unveiled an impressive line-up for its upcoming edition, bringing together some of the biggest names in rock, pop, indie, and electronic music. Set in the vibrant city of Madrid, the festival promises four unforgettable days of outstanding performances, exciting discoveries, and an atmosphere that celebrates music in all its forms from the 8th to the 11th of July.
Opening the festival with captivating energy we have two main sets that are going to be unforgettable for fans of the festival in itself. Foo Fighters will present their new array of songs under the name of “Your Favorite Toy”, following their history of alt-rock anthems heavy on melody and personality. Celebrating their tenth anniversary with the only show date in Spain and a reminder to the Spanish listeners that came to see them in 2017 (when the festival was still hosted in La Caja Magica yet). Another headliner to highlight can be Wolf Alice, that I was excited to see in the 2020 edition and it was cancelled due to a random pandemic (i don’t know if you remember), coincidentally the group led by Ellie Rowsell was also presenting at the festival in 2017. We are dying to see live “Don’t Delete The Kisses” or “Lipstick On The Glass”, while getting to know their latest album “The Clearing”.
On the 9th, we are going to enjoy the unique voice of Florence + The Machine, who is going to present her Everybody Scream Tour live in Madrid for the first time. Moreover, Teddy Swims will be presenting “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy” alongside the hits that led him to get out of the Khia Asylum of country music such as “Bad Dreams” or “Gone Gone Gone”. While Zara Larsson’s “Midnight Sun”, Reneé Rapp’s “BITE ME” and Charlie Puth’s “Whatever’s Clever!” would represent the pop international kingdom. But for me, JENNIE and her “Ruby” that will be the first time a K-Pop Star will present a project in a massive festival in Spain (kudos to Mad Cool for overtaking Primavera Sound on the right with this one). We hope Lorde will be culminating this unforgettable day for so many people part of the LGTBQ+ community with her bangers “Royals” or “Supercut” and the presentation of “Virgin” her latest project.
For Saturday, the festival has prepared us a revival from the hits of previous editions,a compilation of artists that repeat in the line-up that have changed the way the public perceive alternative and rock music after all. In the case of Twenty One Pilots’s “Breach” will be the starting point of a presentation that is waited for the fans after years without coming to the festival. Kings Of Leon and Pixies will lead their setlist with anthems that have defined people across generations, let’s give it up for them! Furthermore, Halsey will present “The Great Impersonator” where she fights against the sound restrictions imposed by a multinational corporation that can put you, as an artist, at the point of not believing in your project (and therefore not allowing you to release another full-length project). Let’s not forget about Sigrid and Holly Humberstone that are creating music from nostalgia in tune with the contemporary world we live in.
The last day is going to be an energizing experience. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are presenting their “Wild God” album that we expect to be one of the religious experiences of the festival, coming from a deep and entertaining interview in the podcast of Bella Freud (definitely a must). On the other hand, we could find a vibrant performance by Pulp, a pop classic in the UK history of music that after starting again to tour in BBK last year, their coming for the capital of the country. Afterwards, Nina Kraviz will be in charge of closing the edition (I wish) from The Loop stage where electronic music has space under a tent throughout the day (and night).
We cannot wait to experience the incredible atmosphere that Mad Cool brings to the capital every year, surrounded by world-class artists, unforgettable performances, infinite brand activations and thousands of music lovers. Madrid, see you soon!
