Rocanrola Festival 2024 Establishes Itself as Spain’s Leading Rap and Hip Hop Event
The Rocanrola Festival continues to gain ground in the Spanish music scene, with its third edition, set to take place from October 10 to 12 at the Espacio Rabasa in Alicante, poised to solidify it as the country’s top event dedicated to rap and hip hop culture. With more than 50 renowned artists and thousands of expected attendees, the festival promises a unique experience that goes beyond concerts, featuring cultural and recreational activities focused on urban culture.
Economic and Cultural Impact
The official presentation of Rocanrola 2024 was held last Monday at the Museo de Aguas de Alicante, highlighting the festival’s economic impact on the city, which exceeds 40 million euros. This event not only promotes urban culture but also serves as a tourism driver, attracting 60% of its attendees from outside the province, helping to break the seasonal cultural offer of Alicante, similar to other events like the Spring Festival.
Introducing Rocanrola City
A key innovation in this year’s edition is the launch of «Rocanrola City,» a pre-festival event to be held on October 5 at Espacio Séneca. This day-long event, from 10 am to 8 pm, will serve as a prelude to the main festival, offering activities for all audiences with the goal of bringing urban culture to a wider range of people. The program includes graffiti exhibitions by Barbiturikills, poetry readings by Charly EFE, roundtable discussions with artists such as Luisaker, Santa Salut, and K1za, and an urban dance masterclass by Funkadelik Dance Studio.
In addition, there will be a photography exhibition dedicated to the festival, and the documentary «La cuarta barra» will be screened, offering exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the festival’s creation, with producers Thais Peñalver and Santi García in attendance. The day will end with an opportunity for attendees to interact with the artists.
A Star-Studded Lineup
The main event, running from October 10 to 12, will feature a lineup packed with some of the biggest names in national rap and hip hop. Artists such as Natos y Waor, SFDK, Fernandocosta, Mala Rodríguez, Kaze, Ayax, Prok, Delaossa, Toteking, Recycled J, Hoke, Juancho Marqués, Foyone, Hard GZ, Fyahbwoy, Rapsusklei, El Chojin, Lia Kali, and many more are confirmed to perform. The festival will also feature historic moments, including Toteking’s farewell and SFDK’s 30th anniversary, with Alicante being one of their final performances.
Living Park: More Than Just Music
Rocanrola will also offer an immersive experience with the «Living Park,» a space dedicated to urban culture featuring urban sports exhibitions, 3×3 basketball competitions, freestyle contests, and skate and BMX demonstrations. There will also be a battle of up-and-coming freestyle talents, while street art will take center stage with graffiti by renowned artist Inocuo.
For those wanting to fully immerse themselves in the festival, there will be camping and glamping areas, as well as food and drink zones and other amenities to ensure an unforgettable experience.
