Sónar 2025: Barcelona Becomes the New Language of the Future
Thirty-two editions in, Sónar no longer needs to prove anything. And yet, every year, it does. In 2025, the festival once again demonstrates that music isn’t just something to be heard it’s something to be thought about, watched, coded, danced to, and transformed.
From June 12 to 15, Barcelona will become a sonic and visual laboratory where the experimental meets the mainstream, the local converses with the global, and the avant-garde is not just a label but a starting point.
This year, Nathy Peluso takes center stage as the undisputed headliner, presenting two exclusive shows: one based on her new album Grasa and another focused on the remixed EP Club Grasa. Two different performances. One multifaceted artist. Her presence represents everything Sónar stands for: risk, power, and reinvention. More than a musical act, she is a cultural moment one where Latin roots meet European experimentation, all filtered through jazz, rap, and performance art.
And she’s not alone. The 2025 lineup features Arca, Pa Salieu, Alizzz, Four Tet, Helena Hauff, Peggy Gou, BICEP, and Maria Arnal, among many others each pushing boundaries in their own way.
Meanwhile, OFFSónar, the most “on” of all “off” festivals, continues to grow into a parallel universe of ambitious electronic showcases. The Swiss duo Adriatique will, for the first time, take over all four stages of the Poble Espanyol in what promises to be a game-changing performance. But one of the most anticipated returns is that of Solid Grooves, marking a key moment in the evolution of European club culture.
Solid Grooves: A New Look, Same Raw Energy
After a sold-out edition in 2024, the prestigious UK label Solid Grooves returns to OFFSónar on Friday, June 13, with a refreshed visual identity and the same commitment to quality that’s made it one of the most respected names in electronic music. Founded by trailblazers Michael Bibi and PAWSA, the label has evolved from underground parties to a global benchmark for innovation in house and techno.
This year’s event will once again take over the legendary Poble Espanyol, offering an immersive experience from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Tickets are available via DICE, with a presale on January 21 followed by a general sale on January 22, demand is expected to mirror last year’s frenzy.
What makes Solid Grooves special isn’t just the sound it’s the storytelling. Their new brand image blends minimalist design with bold aesthetics, reinforcing their position as a cultural and visual trendsetter in the global electronic scene.
As if that weren’t enough, OFFSónar’s 2025 lineup keeps delivering headline-worthy moments. The confirmation of a show featuring &ME and Adam Port, but without fellow Keinemusik member Rampa, has sparked fan theories about possible internal tensions within the collective. Is it scheduling? Is it ego? No one knows—but the speculation is already running wild.
Meanwhile, Sónar+D adds its usual cerebral layer to the festivities, with talks and installations on AI, quantum computing, and the future of digital creativity. Expect appearances from visionaries like Libby Heaney, Xin Liu, and Tega Brain, artists and scientists whose work blends art, science, and futurism.
Sónar is not just a festival. It’s a vision. A community. A way of interpreting contemporary art through sound and technology. And this year, in 2025, Barcelona isn’t just the host, it’s the language itself.
