TOM FORD FW25: A DIGNIFYING CONVERSATION BETWEEN DESIRE AND SEDUCTION

As Haider Ackerman said once: «designers are always searching» and on a sunny Wednesday in Paris the designer found a new meaning for desire and seduction with his debut collection at Tom Ford. Acknowledging differences and exploring similarities, the outfits speak directly to both designers’ heritage. Ackerman was drawn to the man that represents what Mr. Ford was, a personality that is present in everything he created. This is a new beginning, a new way of conceiving allure through clothes with a press note that feels like a love letter.

Inside a steamy mirrored cubicle, the guests of the show could discover the intimacy that the designer was able to create with the garment, where we can find some traces of the night before. Private rooms in clubs are a big inspiration behind these garments, because it is a space that lets us imagine a whole world of looks and unknown experiences. A world of desire that lures and seduces the spectator and brings a closer look into the unattainability of a nightlife setting, fueling desire into our bodies, an attempt of being conscious of what we can awaken in others.

The androgyny of the models make the pieces come to life, highlighting pure lines empowered by the full blast of color, representing pure joy and freedom. Without forgetting the demure and elegant personality of the house with the use of neutral tones. Sensuality is understanded as the feeling of beauty, leaving a hidden message across accessories with a T that comes to life, resigning the use of a logo. Juxtaposition of textures entices touch and stimulates senses, while bleeding red lips that have been kissed for the whole night are visible.

There is dignity in the work of Haider Ackerman, something that affects the final result, a conception of clothing as an act of taking away rather than decorating. Both womenswear and menswear are worked on the idea that less is more and that in order to show some skin you have to know that there is a physical reaction on the observer. Afterall, to seduce means to bring someone close and rewarding discovery with surprise and beauty, as we just lived watching these looks coming down the runway, an unforgettable debut.
